Obituary

Lucy Pendleton, age 96, of Florissant formerly of Dixon, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at St. Sophia Health and Rehabilitation Center in Florissant. She was born in Miller County on September 16, 1912, daughter of George Washington and Leona (Serl) Jones. On May 26, 1934, in Hermann, she was marred to Dora Edward Pendleton, who preceded her in death on July 18, 2006.

She worked for many years as an elementary school teacher in several rural schools. She was a member of the Florissant First Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Dale Pendleton and wife Ella and Richard Pendleton and wife Gloria all of Tallahassee, Florida; one daughter, Kathryn Lawson and husband Charles of Florissant; seven grandchildren, Charles Pendleton, Dennis Lawson, Connie Burns, Tina Quinn, Tracy Graefser, Telisa Runyan, and Rick Pendleton; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Effie Hawkins; and one brother, Claude Jones.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Steve Wingfield will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
