Obituary

Luella Elizabeth Fick, age 94, of Brinktown, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021, at her home.  She was born in Defiance, Iowa, on October 19, 1926, daughter of the late Lawrence and Adeline (Roecker) Zimmer.  On May 5, 1951, in Brinktown, Luella was united in marriage to Joseph Ferdinand Fick, who preceded her in death on April 25, 2003.

Luella was a woman of many trades.  She was a loving homemaker who was also instrumental in the day-to-day running of the family farm, performing many of the chores needed around the farm.  She enjoyed tending to her many gardens and took great pride in caring for her property.  She loved cooking for her family and was known for her delicious fried chicken.

She was an active member of the community and parish, serving as church secretary for various priests throughout the years.  She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was the oldest member of the parish quilting club.  Luella was a faithful member of Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Brinktown.

She is survived by two sons, David (Stacie) Fick of Dixon, Norbert (Paula) Fick of Freeburg; three daughters, Beverly (Larry) Wiles of Dixon, Doris (Roger) Schneider of Taos, and Sharon Mynatt of Ash Grove; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way; five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ivan Zimmer and Larry Zimmer; brother-in-law, James (Georgina) Fick; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Vernon Zimmer, two sisters, Leona Fick and Helen Winkelman, son-in-law, Herschel Mynatt, and grandson, Martin Wiles.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, October 6, at Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Brinktown with Rev. Basil Tigga officiating.  Interment will be held in Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery in Brinktown.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Central Missouri Hospice or Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church.
