Mabel E. (Malmberg) Yoakum, age 85, of Iberia, died Wednesday, October 17, at the Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in rural Miller County on October 19, 1921, daughter of Frank Herbert and Alaska Elizabeth (Dake) Malmberg. On November 26, 1939, in Iberia, she was married to George Washington Yoakum, who preceded her in death on May 23, 2002.
She worked at Fort Leonard Wood for 32 years retiring as a Post Exchange Manager. She was a member of the Iberia American Legion Post 105 Ladies Auxiliary, the Iberia Order of the Eastern Star, and the Iberia Community Club.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Ruth Yoakum of Iberia; two grandchildren, Valerie Cutright and husband Keith of St. Peters, and Sandy Marcus and husband Bruce of Florissant; and four great-grandchildren, Mellissa Marcus, Ben Marcus, Scott Cutright, and Sarah Cutright.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery near Iberia.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with an American Legion Auxiliary Service at 7:00 p.m.
