Mabel Gleanara Wheat, age 87, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in St. Elizabeth on January 29, 1925, daughter of the late Oliver and Katie (Kesterson) Hodge. On March 2, 1942, in Miller County, Mabel married Louis Wheat, who preceded her in death on March 14, 1978.

Mabel was a member of the Jehovah Witness Church in Crocker.

She is survived by two sister-in-laws, Inez Hodge of St. Elizabeth and Norma Hodge of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 (noon) on Thursday, September 27, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in St. Elizabeth. Interment will immediately follow at Longview Cemetery in Jefferson City.
