Madonna Elaine Rowden McDowell, age 63, of Iberia, died Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at Lake Regional Hospital. She was born on November 30, 1944, in Illinois, daughter of Mike and Betty J. (Lamb) Davis. On May 21, 1965, in Danville, Illinois, she was married to George Elmer Rowden Sr., who preceded her in death on July 15, 1998. She was married at St. Genevieve in 2000 to Clarence "Kraut" McDowell, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Concord Christian Church and was a past volunteer at Iberia Head Start.
Survivors include one daughter, DeAnna Thrasher and husband Paul of Cairo; one son, George Rowden Jr. and wife Anna of Iberia; her mother, Betty J. Davis of Oakwood, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Candy Bys, Mikey Beasley Jr., Michaela Beasley, Michelle Beasley, Timothy Beasley, Cristian Rowden, and Chase Rowden; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Davis and Mike Davis both of Illinois; and two sisters, Elva White and Maxine Bert both of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Lee Todd will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Union Cemetery near Brumley.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, at the funeral home.
