Margie Claudine Adams, age 95, of Iberia, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at her home.  She was born in Swedeborg on December 26, 1927, daughter of the late John Ernest and Oma Ellen (Wall) Thornsberry.   On July 1, 1961, in Las Vegas, Margie was united in marriage to James Elmer Adams, who preceded her in death on March 31, 1977.

Margie had a special place in her heart for public education and had a rewarding career as an educator.  Throughout her 53 years in public education, she was employed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Webster Groves, and Iberia R-V School District until her retirement in 2000 from Dixon High School as the High School Counselor after 33 years of employment.  During her distinguished career she touched many lives and was instrumental in shaping the future for countless young minds.  In addition to teaching, Margie was also employed at the Happy Fisherman for 27 years.

She enjoyed tending to her bountiful garden and took pleasure in fishing and the peacefulness it provided.  Margie cherished her family above all things and loved attending her granddaughter's extracurricular activities.  She was a faithful member of Iberia First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Abbie Adams; two granddaughters, Asia Barnett and husband Jordan and Kily McElroy; Trisha Wilson, Staci Fritchey, and Tami McElroy who she thought of as daughters; nephew, Joe (Dee) Strain; great niece, Lauren (Bill) Chaney; great-great-niece and nephew, Autumn and Billy; and numerous family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister Minnie Pauline Strain and husband J.B.

Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 23, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Roy Bryant officiating.  Interment will be held in Iberia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, at the funeral home.
