Marie G. Prater, age 90, of Washington, MO, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021, in Washington at the home of her daughter, Jennifer. She was born in Argyle on April 2, 1931, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Grant) Schulte. On August 23, 1952, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Argyle, Marie was united in marriage to Chester L. Prater, who preceded her in death on November 23, 1993.

She enjoyed volunteering at JMJ Holy Family Book Store in Washington for many years. Marie was devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Washington.

She is survived by two sons, Curt Prater (Christine) and Maurice Prater; four daughters, Connie Collins, Julia Prater, Gloria Struttmann (Terrill), and Jennifer Menley (Christopher); thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph Schulte; and numerous family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one grandson, Tyler Filla; two sisters, Patty Schanzmeyer and Dorothy Buschjost; and two brothers, Ed Schulte and Clem Schulte.

Marie's final wishes were to have her Mass of Christian Burial at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1 p.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., on Friday, April 23, 2021, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Argyle with Fr. Basil Tigga officiating. Interment will be held in Southside Cemetery in Meta.

Facial masks are suggested for those attending the funeral services.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to JMJ Bookstore in Washington or Southside Cemetery.
