Marie Risse, age 90, of Meta, died Sunday, May 6, 2007, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born in Brinktown on December 2, 1916, daughter of Clement and Theresa (Bure) Hillen. On October 10, 1950, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Jefferson City, she was married to Leo Risse, who preceded her in death on October 31, 1987.

She was an avid reader and seamstress until her vision started to fail. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.

Survivors include five sons, Norbert Risse and wife, Brenda of Meta, Charles Risse and wife, Rosemary of New Haven, Larry Risse and wife, Alice of Meta, Roger Risse and fiancée, Jackie of Olean, and Donny Hillen and wife, Alice of Olean; two daughters, Charlene Veltrop and husband, Gary of Taos, and Irene Hartman and husband, Karl of Hartsburg; one sister-in-law, Mary Hillen of Jefferson City; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, five step grandchildren, eight step great-grandchildren, and seven step great great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Joe and Henry Hillen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta. Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the church with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.
