Obituary

Marilyn Marie Herigon, age 79, of Meta, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020, at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Cole County on April 15, 1941, daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Weber) Strope. On July 30, 1977, in St. Thomas, Marilyn was united in marriage to Dale Herigon, who survives at their home.

Marilyn had a passion for quilting and embroidering and contributed on many quilts for the parish picnics. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her dogs, especially Sam and Casey. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished the time she had with her family, especially her grandchildren. Marilyn volunteered at St. Thomas the Apostle School and Helias School and was a faithful member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

In addition to her husband, Dale Herigon, she is survived by one daughter, Corinn Hake and husband Patrick of Taos; four grandchildren, Bruno, Sophie, Henry, and Adelia; sister, Marjorie Goeller of Russellville; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Veronica Renee Herigon.

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. Leonard Mukiibi officiating and Fr. I.C. Medina concelebrating. The public is welcome to attend the graveside service at 12 (noon) on Thursday, September 24, at the St. Thomas Cemetery.

Masks are required for those attending the private mass, but at the graveside service masks are not required, but social distancing in strongly encouraged.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Thomas the Apostle School or Church.
