Marjorie Lee Brown, age 81, of Iberia, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. She was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, on February 8, 1936, daughter of the late Clyde and Rhua (Brashears) Brown. On August 27, 1959, in Juneau, Alaska, Marjorie married Jack William Brown, who preceded her in death on January 4, 2010.
Marjorie and Jack had a number of very successful businesses including, The Red Onion in Skagway, Alaska. Marjorie and family moved to Missouri in 1979, where they owned and operated Sherwood Resort Motel in Osage Beach for over 20 years. Marjorie renovated the Church of Christ in Crocker and opened Just Got Saved Antiques.
Marjorie was fiercely independent, outspoken and a person of principle, yet she was also extremely friendly, caring, loving, and giving to others.
She is survived by her family, Jack Brown Jr., wife Malea, and children Garrett and Tye of Laramie, Wyoming, Jill Henderson, husband Grady, and children Katie and Jake of Saginaw, Texas, Bob Brown, wife Dana, and children Chelsea Riney (Joe) of St. Louis and Cody of Osage Beach, Sandra Brown of Iberia, Tom Brown, wife Jenny, and children, Zach, Megan, Trey, and Ethan of Rolla and Heather Brown-Ritter and husband Adam of Climax Springs; one great-grandchild, Mariam Henderson; and two brothers, Jimmy Brown and wife Bev of Roscoe and Bernie Brown and wife Sharon of Rich Hill.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Clydene Nitsche and Karen Doty and one brother, Clyde Brown Jr.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 7 p.m., on Thursday, February 23, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
