Marjorie Sue Nelson, age 79, of Iberia, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Miller County on October 12, 1941, daughter of the late Luther William Duncan and Jessie Venice (Cochran) Duncan.
Marjorie loved spending time outdoors doing various activities including hunting for arrowheads and fishing. She was a homemaker who prided herself in cooking from scratch and enjoyed crocheting. Marjorie was a master at painting ceramics, but she especially loved painting Indian pieces and sold countless pieces. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Marjorie's favorite moments were the ones filled playing and painting ceramics with her grandchildren and she took great pride in cooking for them.
Marjorie was a devoted member of Mt. Union Church of Christ near Iberia.
She is survived by her son, Donald Nelson and wife Ruthie of Iberia; three grandchildren, Scott Nelson (Burgandy) of Crocker, Kaitlyn Piggott (Darin) of Iberia, and Kelli Hagenhoff (Brad) of Meta; five great-grandchildren, Christopher Nelson, Ryan Nelson, Huxley Piggott, Abram Piggott, and Darby Hagenhoff; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Michael Nelson; brother, Cordell Duncan; and two sisters, Betty Gilliam and Rosalee Long.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 11 a.m., on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Brian Duncan officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Iberia Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Christmas Fund at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia.
