Obituary

Marjorie (Shockley) Nickels, age 92, of Eldon, died Thursday, January 11, 2007, at the Lee House. She was born in Crocker on July 25, 1914, a daughter of the late E.O. and Della (Matthews) Shockley. On May 18, 1929, in Pinckneyville, Illinois, she was married to James "Harry" Harrison Nickels, who preceded her in death on June 8, 1985.

Marjorie moved to the Barnett community in 1945 where her and her husband farmed until retirement. She was a member of the Aurora Springs Baptist Church.

Those who survive her include: two sons, Don Nickels and wife Yvonne of Eldon and Gordon Nickels of Barnett; eight grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Her daughter, Helen Jean DeBejar, also preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2007, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Pastor John Dearing and Bro. Bob Stevens will officiate. Interment will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens near Barnett.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Friday and from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Lee House Memorial Fund-In Memory of Marjorie Nickels.
