Obituary

Marsha Ann Meyer, age 72, of Meta, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022, surrounded by her family, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.  She was born in Jefferson City on January 13, 1950, daughter of the late Nelson Herman Otto, Sr. and Anna Marie (Zeilman).  On March 13, 1971, in Rich Fountain, Marsha was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Meyer, who survives at their home.

After graduation, Marsha was employed at the Missouri State Highway Patrol until she married Bob and moved to Killeen, Texas to start their new adventures.  Upon completion of Bob's military service, they returned to Missouri and bought a farm in Meta where she helped on the family hog farm while raising her four children.  She later worked as a secretary for the Diocese of Jefferson City, Patio Chef, and the Department of Public Safety. She also worked as a First Aid and CPR instructor for Capital Region Medical Center.

Marsha loved traveling with friends which in later years mostly consisted of trips to "Downstream."  When she wasn't traveling, she could always be heard cheering for her Grandkids at their many sporting events.  She had a love for the holidays and made each one special for her family.  She loved decorating trees on Christmas Eve, dyeing her special Easter eggs, and especially cherished building her Christmas Village each year with her Grandchildren.  She always looked forward to these days along with her "special days" with each of the Grandkids and their "Condo week" at the Lake.

In addition to her husband, Bob, she is also survived by two sons, Mike Meyer (Tiffanie) of St. Thomas and Jon Meyer (Mike Nichols) of Columbia; two daughters, Michelle Derkum (Tony) of Meta and Angel Backes (Brad) of Meta; grandchildren; Sydney and Elena Meyer, Nick Meyer, Will, Melina, and Natalee Derkum, Taylor, Sarah, and Lizzy Backes; three brothers, Dale Otto (Diana), Duane Otto, and Nelson Otto, Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Anna Otto and her in-laws, Leo and Sarah Meyer.
