Obituary

Martha Ann Oligschlaeger, 78, of St. Louis, Missouri, died Friday, October 10, 2025, at Pine Grove Manor in St. Louis where she had been a resident for several years.   Martha was born on September 15, 1947, in Jefferson City, the daughter of Robert Urban and Freda Rose (Crane) Oligschlaeger.

Martha "Marty" Oligschlaeger was a 1965 graduate of St. Elizabeth High School and became a certified radiological technologist, practicing at healthcare facilities in Columbia, MO and San Francisco, CA. Later, she became a drug and alcohol counselor at a rehab facility in Osage Beach, MO serving patients there for many years.

Marty Oligschlaeger will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving and caring person who doted on her many precious dogs and cared for lost and abused animals wherever she found them.   She had an adventurous spirit and once led a family group that hiked over the Rock Island Railroad bridge at Hoecker and returned the same day by swimming the Osage River.  Marty loved to surprise her friends and family.  In her twenties, she bought a small Suzuki motorcycle and tried it out by riding it to the family home in St. Elizabeth.  She once trained and tested for a trucker's license and with a likeminded friend drove over-the-road rigs all over the United States "to see the Country".    Marty had a wonderful sense of humor and could regale listeners with a wealth of interesting stories.

Martha Ann Oligschlaeger is survived by four sisters, Mary Wright of St. Louis, Susan Reynaga of the State of Alaska, Helen Allen of Wimauma, FL, and Christine Vallely of Branson, MO; and one brother, Robert Oligschlaeger, of St. Elizabeth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Judy Kemna-Meyer, and an infant brother, James.

At Martha's request, there will be no scheduled services.  Her cremated remains will be interred at the Tuscumbia Cemetery, Tuscumbia, MO, where her mother grew up and both parents went to high school.   Contributions in Marty's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Missouri.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
