Marvin D. Beard, age 78, of Kaiser, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. He was born in Ulman on March 12, 1939, son of the late Ira Thomas and Charlotte Francis (Huddleston) Beard.

Marvin worked for Iowana Farms Dairy in Iowa and was later employed at Ruan Transport and the Department of Corrections in Jefferson City. He owned and operated Beard Trucking for many years. Marvin was an avid outdoorsman and a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

He is survived by five children, Monte Beard and wife Brenda of Sherrard, Illinois, Michael Beard and wife Rebecca of Davenport, Iowa, Marty Beard of Bettendorf, Iowa, Michelle Brenner and husband Stephen of Leclaire, Iowa, and Marvin Matthew Beard of the home; seven grandchildren, Katelyn Beard, Lindsey Beard, Jacob Beard, Sarah Kimm, Jason Beard, Bryson Beard, and Briana Beard; two great-grandchildren, Payten Beard and Charlotte Beard; and one sister, Shirley Crowley of Bettendorf, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Wayne, Calvin, Byron, Jewell, and Wendell Beard; five sisters, Blanche Boatman, Berneice Walker, Ruby Belairs, Joann Trudell, and Alice Kelley; and one infant daughter, Cheryl Kay Beard.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m., with service immediately following at 3 p.m., on Thursday, June 22, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Ralph Byrd will officiate. Interment will be in Boltz Cemetery near Kaiser.
