Marvin F. Versluys, Sr., age 80, of Eldon, died Sunday, September 4, 2005, at his home. He was born in Minnesota on June 18, 1925, a son of the late Ray and Louise (Garrow) Versluys. On June 29, 1987, in Eldon, he was married to Virgie R. (Hickey) Byers, who preceded him in death on December 6, 1994.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Those who survive him include: two sons; Marvin F. Versluys, Jr. of Eldon and Ray Allen Versluys and wife Delora of Rexburg, Idaho; one daughter, Lynda Ericksen and husband Nils of Pensacola, Florida; one sister, Mary Ann Whipple of Paducah, Kentucky; one nephew, Eugene Versluys of Paducah, Kentucky; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Rev. Frederick Elskamp will officiate. Interment, with military honors, will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens near Barnett.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon.
