Mary Evelyn Blankenship, age 86, of Dixon, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Maries Manor in Vienna. She was born in Dixon on May 26, 1929, daughter of the late Jesse and Edith (Fritchey) Yoakum. On May 23, 1946, in Vienna, she married Alvis Blankenship, who preceded her in death on February 12, 2003.

Evelyn was a member of New Salem Baptist Church near Dixon.

She is survived by one son, William "Pete" Blankenship of Iberia; one daughter-in-law, Judy Blankenship of Iberia; two grandsons, Junior Blankenship and Kyle Blankenship and wife Amber both of Iberia; and four great-grandchildren, Jesse Blankenship, Jasper Blankenship, Easton Blankenship, and Brady Blankenship.

In addition to her husband, Alvis, she was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Blankenship and Floyd Blankenship; five brothers, and two sisters.

Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Louis Dunlap will officiate. Interment will be in Wheeler Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, at the funeral home.
