Mary Agnes Borgmeyer Gray, age 91, of Jefferson City formerly of Meta, died Monday, May 21, 2007, at Maries Manor Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Vienna. She was born in Jefferson City on February 6, 1916, daughter of James and Mary (Swillum) Walsh. On August 31, 1935, in Jefferson City, she was married to Lambert Borgmeyer, who preceded her in death in 1974. On March 10, 1979, in Meta, she was married to John Gray, who preceded her in death in 1980.

She attended the Immaculate Conception Grade School and graduated from St. Peters High School in 1934. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City, St. Ann's Sodality, Daughters of Isabella, AARP, Railroad Retirement, and an Auxiliary Member of St. Mary's Health Center.


Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Zimmer and husband, Vernon of Brinktown and Dot Grotemeyer of Columbia; five sons, Jim Borgmeyer and wife, Connie of Elk Grove, California, Dan Borgmeyer and wife, Pauline of Cary, North Carolina, Larry Borgmeyer of Holden, Jerry Borgmeyer and wife, Cassie of St. Joseph, and Gary Borgmeyer and wife, Chris of New Bloomfield; one brother, Dan Walsh of Jefferson City; one sister, Betty Schnieders of Jefferson City; 25 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Through her marriage to John Gray she was blessed with six stepchildren and their families. For the remainder of her life she enjoyed the warm embrace and endearing support of the Gray family.


She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; three brothers; one daughter, Mary Beth Borgmeyer; one son, Bob Borgmeyer; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta. Msgr. Marion Makarewicz will officiate. Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Meta.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the church with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary's Hospice or the National Shrine of the Miraculous Medal at Perryville.
