Mary Marie
(Fleischman) Worstell
February 14, 1930 – January 28, 2020
Mary Marie (Fleischman) Worstell, age 89, of Phoenix, AZ, passed into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, January 28, 2020. Mary was born in Rolla, Missouri on February 14, 1930, daughter of John Martin Fleischman and Lillie Lena (Horn) Fleischman. On July 7, 1951, Mary was united in marriage to Thomas Sylvester Worstell, who preceded her in death on December 25, 2009.
Mary was a homemaker for many years raising five children. She worked in the Rollins Cafeteria for the University of Missouri for 25 years until her retirement in 1992. Mary was baptized into Jesus Christ in the early years of her marriage and attended Ridgeview Christian Church in Rolla, Missouri. Mary and Thomas and their children were active in the former Westside Christian Church in Columbia, Missouri, which is now Forum Christian Church. During their retirement years, they attended the Crocker Christian Church for 10 years. In 2004, they placed their membership into the Timberlake Christian Church in Moberly, Missouri.
Mary had been living first with her son, Michael Worstell and his wife Dezi in Surprize, Arizona. The past four years she has been in an assisted living home in Phoenix.
Mary loved to cook and was known for her wonderful cakes. In addition, she made beautiful embroidered pillowcases and tea towels. She also loved gardening, sewing and reading her Bible.
Mary is survived by one daughter, Lillie Schoville and husband, David, of Phoenix, AZ: four sons, Thomas Worstell and wife, Duonna, of LaMonte, Timothy Worstell of LeRoy, Kansas, Charles Worstell and wife, Jean Ann, of Crocker, and Michael Worstell and wife, Dezi, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma: seventeen grandchildren, Rebecca, Joshua, Benjamin, Thomas, Matthew, Emily, Melanie, Kyle, Nathan, Matthew Charles, Micah, Katelyn, Ian, Talon, Colan, Devin and Raena: nineteen great-grandchildren, Liliana, Jameson, Jackson M., Thomas, Jonathan, Timothy, Hope, Hannah, Shawn, Jackson, Gage, Javan, Shelby, Titus, Issac, Faith, Ashlynne, Bailey, and Aubree.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, one great grandson, Mason Worstell, three sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 (noon), on Monday, February 3, at Mt. Zion Christian Church in Tuscumbia with Tim Worstell and Charlie Worstell officiating. Interment will be held in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Tuscumbia.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Mt. Zion Christian Church.
