Mary Lee Hawken, age 82, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, January 14, 2006, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center. She was born in Mt. Pleasant on August 8, 1923, a daughter of the late Aubra and Martha (Miller) Johnston. On August 8, 1942, in Valparaiso, Indiana, she was married to Jesse H. Hawken, who preceded her in death on February 17, 1996.

A homemaker, she was a member of Tuscumbia Christian Church.

Those who survive her include: Three sons, Jerry E. Hawken and wife Arlene of Eldon, David W. Hawken and wife Cheryl of Eldon and John H. Hawken of Tuscumbia; two daughters, Martha A. Tomson and husband Ronsol of Tuscumbia and Mary Carol Hasenbeck and husband Bob of Jefferson City; one sister, Jean Garber of Gravois Mills; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Two grandchildren, Keisha Renee Hawken and Jason Aubra Tomson; one sister, Virginia Flessa and one half-sister, Dorothy Able also preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Gene Edwards will officiate. Interment will be in Tuscumbia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon.
