Mary F. Turpin, age 82, of Rocky Mount, died Monday, October 23, 2006, at her home. She was born in St. Charles, Iowa on May 8, 1924, a daughter of the late Nevin and Merceline (Spoor) Archer. On July 8, 1941, in Rocky Mount, she was married to George W. Turpin, who preceded her in death in 1986.

Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family, reading westerns and crocheting.

Those who survive her include: seven children, George E. Turpin of Rocky Mount, Ruby M. Hale of Stover, Martha Thomas of Columbia, Gene Turpin of Rocky Mount, Nancy Israel of Coal Creek, Colorado, David Turpin of Versailles and Jay Turpin of Rocky Mount; 25 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Weltha Prewitt of Rocky Mount; two brothers, Dan Archer of Liberty and Hollis Archer of Independence and numerous nieces and nephews.

Two sons, Daniel W. and Jerry D. Turpin also preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27, at New Life Assembly of God Church in Barnett. Pastor Ron Hess will officiate. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
