Maxine McDowell, age 91, of Lee's Summit, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Wilshire at Lakewood Rehab Center. She was born in Phelps City, Missouri, on December 12, 1932, daughter of the late John and Blanche Virginia (Lester) Mutter. On July 19, 1950, in Kansas City, Maxine was united in marriage to George Stanley McDowell, who preceded her in death on February 25, 1990.
Maxine was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Lee's Summit and enjoyed their fellowship activities. For the past seven years, Maxine was a resident of Wilshire at Lakewood Rehab Center where she cherished the time spent with friends, family, and taking part in activities.
She is survived by one son, George Stanley McDowell, Jr. of Overland Park, KS; three daughters, Marilyn Tenud of Phoenix, AZ, Nancy Packard of Lee's Summit, and Patsy Ray of Lee's Summit; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Albert Mutter; two sisters, Joan Mutter Mann and Ruby Schaummann.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Mt. Union Cemetery in Brumley.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Mt. Union Cemetery.
