Melinda Lee Alexander, age 59, of Dixon, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at University Hospital in Columbia.  She was born in Rolla on April 27, 1964, daughter of Jerry Edward and Betty Jean (Bilyeu) Vaill.  On September 26, 1987, at Alder Springs Church of rural Miller County, Melinda was united in marriage to Melvin Alexander, Jr., who preceded her in death on April 8, 2013.

Melinda possessed a strong work ethic and was employed in various occupations during her working career. In addition to being a homemaker and raising her four children, Melinda owned and operated a dog kennel for 25 years and took pride in working on the family farm. She was currently employed at Fort Leonard Wood as the lead HR Assistant for 13 years.  Melinda was a member of the Church of Christ in Dixon.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Jean Vaill; four children, Trinity (Doug) Ponder, Calvin Alexander, Joseph (Kristi) Alexander, and Dustin (Kati) Alexander; five grandchildren, Callie Ponder, Averie Alexander, Dustin Alexander, Beau Alexander, and Kalani; siblings Nancy (Stan) Gregory, Valerie (Steve) Sinden, and Eddie (Debbie) Vaill; brother-in-law, Edward Alexander; sister-in-law, Donna Sisk; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

In addition to her father and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Vaill.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, February 26, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.

Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.  Interment will be held in Alder Springs Cemetery near Iberia.
