Melissa Elaine Bax, age 56, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at University Hospital in Columbia.  She was born in Jefferson City on April 19, 1969, daughter of late Stanley Louis and Evelyn Marie (Seely) Bax.

Melissa was known for her generous spirit, infectious smile, and her zest for life.  She was a true example of someone who never knew a stranger.  Her humor and fun-loving spirit brought immense joy to everyone she encountered.  Growing up on a farm, Melissa fell in love with the outdoors and developed her love for animals, especially her horse, Bonnie.  Melissa had a love for God and attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

She cherished her family deeply, always finding joy in their company.  Her love for children, especially her nieces and nephews, was evident in the way she adored holding babies. She also formed close bonds with her roommates and staff, who became an extended family to her.

She is survived by her five siblings, Carol Neese and husband Dennis of Iberia, Donna Dickneite and husband Kenneth of St. Anthony, Ron Bax and wife Cheryl of St. Elizabeth, Susie Lavery of Jefferson City, and Clifford Bax of Branson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Stanley and Evelyn Bax, she was also preceded in death by her infant brother, Curtis Bax.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11 a.m., on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth with Fr. Christopher Aubuchon officiating.  Interment will be held in St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Camdenton Sheltered Workshop.
