Michael Lee McDanel, age 75, of Iberia, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, at his home.  He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on November 30, 1949.  On October 4, 1969, Michael was united in marriage to Gertrud Klein, who survives at their home.

Michael honorably served his country in the United States Army as a meteorologist.  A proud veteran, Michael retired from the military earning the rank of Master Sergeant.  Michael had a passion for horses, which complemented his role in the Mounted Posse with the Maricopa County Sherrif's Department in Arizona.  He lived the majority of his life traveling with the military and in Phoenix, Arizona with his family.

Michael had a passion for playing the guitar and traveling around the country he loved with his wife Gertrud by his side.  As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Michael cherished his family and always welcomed their company and the treasured memories they created.

In addition to his loving wife, Gertrud McDanel, he is also survived by his son, Michael McDanel and wife Lisa; daughter, Michelle Rosenberg; grandchildren, Jordain McDanel, Edden Rosenberg, Alyssa McDanel, Bree McDanel, Arden Rosenberg, Sarai Rosenberg; brother, Lee McDanel; aunt, Joann Waugh; sister-in-law, Inge E. Webster; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Violet Lancaster; sister, Patty Buchanan; stepfather, James Lancaster; and his best-friend, Don Cummings.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 (noon), with a Memorial Service immediately following at 12 (noon), on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.  Military Honors will follow the Memorial Service.
