Mildred P. Shuler, age 92, of Iberia, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on January 14, 1914, a daughter of John Logan and Harriet M. (Chambers) Brown. On August 5, 1931, in Kansas City, Kansas, she was married to Frank W. Shuler, who preceded her in death on July 3, 1990.

She was a member of Honey Springs Baptist Church near Brumley. She taught Vacation Bible School for 56 years and was a Sunday school teacher most of her life. She was also very active in the Missions program. She was a member of the Iberia American Legion Post 105 and the Iberia VFW Post 6167 Ladies Auxiliaries. She was a volunteer Coordinator for the OATS Bus and volunteered for the University Extension Council of Miller County.

Those who survive her include: four daughters, Marilyn Eastwood of Fulton, Janet Pritchett of Iberia, Nancy Jones of New Bloomfield, and Brenda Scrivner of Rogersville; one son, William Shuler of Kansas City; 24 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 10 great great-grandchildren.

Her parents; two brothers, Ralph and Leslie Brown; and a grandson, Mark Eastwood, also preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, at Honey Springs Baptist Church near Brumley. Rev. Dennis Nichols and Rev. Rex Freeman will officiate. Interment will be in Hickory Point Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
