Muriel J. Copeland, age 84, of Meta, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020, at his home. He was born in Meta on February 24, 1936, son of the late Homer and Delphia (Helton) Copeland. On August 22, 1959, near Iberia, Muriel married Lois Dean Dake, who preceded him in death on September 29, 2015.

Muriel honorably served in the United States Army. He worked at Westing House as a welder for 20 years and enjoyed work on the farm tending to his livestock. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and gardening. Muriel attended Mason Ridge Church.

He is survived by two sons, Jim Copeland (Cindy Dworek) of Vienna and Steve Copeland of Meta; step-grandson, Dylan Dworek; one brother, Robert Copeland (Mary Ann) of St. Louis; and numerous family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gayle Copeland and one infant brother.

A private family service will be held at a later date with final inurnment at Dake Cemetery near Iberia.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Honor Flight.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
