Myrel H. Dake, age 91, of Iberia, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Missouri Veteran's Home in St. James. He was born in Dixon on February 11, 1932, son of the late Joseph and Mary Jane (Duncan) Dake. On April 15, 1958, at Faith Tabernacle Church in Dixon, Myrel was united in marriage to Viola May Humphrey, who preceded him in death on August 2, 2002.
Myrl honorably served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America, American Legion Post 105, and the Iberia Saddle Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and equestrian. He enjoyed tending his horses, hunting, fishing, and trail riding. Myrl was a member of Brays Advent Christian Church in Iberia.
He is survived by two sons, Brad Dake and wife Sheryl and Joe Dake and wife Yvonne; three grandchildren, Jennifer Douglas, Joey Dake, and Kyle Dake; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd Dake and Ritchie Dake; four sisters, Pauline Humphrey, Barb McDaniel, Beverly Pendleton, and Becky Buckley; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by six siblings, Andrew Robert Dake, Darrell Dake, Bonnie Pendleton, Mary Sue Dake, Rosa Rowden, and Donna Dake.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 (noon), on Friday, March 10, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Brian Duncan officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at Union Cemetery near Iberia.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Union Cemetery or Brays Advent Christian Church.
