Myrl Rollins, age 92, of Crocker, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at his home. He was born in Dixon on September 24, 1930, son of the late William and Mary (Boyce) Rollins. On September 29, 1952, Myrl was united in marriage to Barbara Lee Hensley, who preceded him in death on April 28, 2022.
Over the years, Myrl worked for several companies as a truck driver until his retirement. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their school activities and watching them play various sports. Myrl always had a joke to shared and a passion for farming and gardening. He was well known for his home-grown tomatoes, which he shared with his family.
He was baptized at a young age and devoted his life to serving the Lord. He was a man of deep faith and was instrumental in constructing New Hope Gospel Church, where he was a faithful member.
He is survived by three daughters, Donnette Routh and husband John Wayne of Crocker, Jo Ann Shelton and husband Junior of Hawkeye, and Merlene Helton and husband David of Iberia; six grandchildren, Michelle "Shelly" (Chuck) Adams, Lori (Randy) Roam, Jennifer (Rusty) Dusenberry, Mandy (Johnny) Duncan, Brandon (Candy) Shelton, and Alisha (Chris) Hall; 25 great-grandchildren; 35 great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Neta Rollins and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Marion Oland Rollins, Theodore Allen Rollins, Edwin "Bates" Buell Rollins, William "Bill" Joe Rollins, Robert "Bobby" Ray Rollins, Gary Norman Rollins, and Leland Forrest Rollins; four sisters, Audrey Pauline Stokes, Norma Eileen Withers, Muriel Maxine Lee, and Melva Darlene Hayes; one grandson, John Landon Routh; and one great-granddaughter, Lacey Wilson.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with services immediately following at 11 a.m., on Monday, October 10, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Frank McGuire officiating. Interment will be held in Iberia Cemetery.
