Nancy R. (White) Houston, age 96, of Eldon, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at Eldon Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Eldon on February 16, 1909, a daughter of the late Robert Forest and Nancy Loucinda (Vernon) White. On April 3, 1937, in Tuscumbia, she was married to John O. Houston, who preceded her in death on October 5, 1986.

A homemaker, she enjoyed writing poetry, music and short stories. She was also a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church.

Those who survive her include: four daughters, Mildred Wood of Eldon, Jennie Swafford of Barnett, Ruby Comstock of Eldon and Martha Comstock of Eldon; 35 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and many friends.

One twin daughter, Mary Swafford, also preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. with services immediately following at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Rev. Danny Owsley will officiate. Interment will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens near Barnett at a later date.
