Nellie Workman, age 96, of Eldon, died Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at St. Marys Health Center. She was born April 25, 1909, a daughter of the late John and Armittie (Matthews) Harrison. On September 27, 1930, in Tuscumbia, she was married to John E. Workman, who preceded her in death on August 2, 1989.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Gospel of Peace Tabernacle in Eldon. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her children, grandchildren and church family.
Those who survive her include: Three daughters, Omega McDonald of Eldon, Lawanda Julo and husband Earl of Lee's Summit and Darlene Jefferies and husband Jerry of Eldon; one son, Gail Workman and wife Ruth of Eldon; one sister, Blanche Whittenburg of Eldon; 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Fred and Ed Harrison, one sister, Maybelle Kiser and two great grandchildren, Dale Edward, Jr. and Dale Edward, III Winters, also preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon, with services immediately following at 12:00 p.m. Elders James McKnight and Otto Parish will officiate. Interment will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens near Barnett.
