Norbert Herman Boessen, age 74, of St. Thomas, died Saturday, September 9, 2006, at his home. He was born in St. Thomas on May 1, 1932, son of Anton and Alma (Lueckenotto) Boessen. On May 21, 1960, in St. Thomas, he was married to Viola M. Herigon, who survives at the home.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked as a farmer, meat processor, and wood cutter and loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
Other survivors include three sons, Willard Boessen, Timothy Boessen, and Thomas Boessen and wife, Kim all of St. Thomas; four daughters, Susan Buechter and husband, Darrel of St. Thomas, Diane Herx and husband, Larry of St. Anthony, Catherine Schulte and husband, Jeff of Meta, and Carrie Roberds and husband, Tommie of Meta; two brothers, John Boessen and Dave Boessen both of St. Thomas; three sisters, Bernadine Bax of St. Elizabeth, Agnes Benne of St. Charles, and Sister Ann Boessen of Wardsville; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Boessen; his parents; one brother, Phillip Boessen; and one sister, Flora Kirkweg.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas. Rev. Mark Porterfield will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the St. Thomas Knights of Columbus Hall in St. Thomas with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.
