Obituary

Norma Mae (Crane) Pennebaker, age 95, of Dixon, went to her eternal home on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, surrounded by her daughters and sister, Joyce.  She was born on the family farm in Dixon on July 7, 1927, daughter of the late Corbett and Oma (Prewett) Crane.  On April 23, 1947, in St. Louis, Norma was united in marriage to Charles Eugene Pennebaker, who preceded her in death on March 15, 2019.

Norma possessed a deep faith and love for God.  As a pastor's wife, she served along her husband Charles in the ministry at Kentucky Baptist Church, Deelick Baptist Church, New Home Baptist Church and New Salem Baptist Church.  Norma was an active member of Sheppard Baptist Church in Dixon and enjoyed serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She taught VBS and Sunday School for many years.

Norma had a rewarding career as a homemaker.  She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and canning their summer harvest. Norma was fond of nature and took pleasure in watching birds.  She had a passion for restoring antique furniture and a talent for sewing, creating countless quilts and clothes throughout her life.  She welcomed the company of her family and cherished the moments spent with loved ones, especially her grandchildren.

Those left to celebrate the life of Norma, are her two daughters, Lynn (Steve) Shelton of Dixon and Myra (Mark) Rollins of Battlefield; nine grandchildren, Rex Pennebaker, Adam Shelton, Ambra Quick, Aaron Quick, Danielle Cale, Jennifer Dykes, Taylor Rollins, Elena Rollins, and Jayce Rollins; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two siblings, Joyce Jennings, and Jack Crane; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Dale Allen Pennebaker.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 (noon), on Thursday, September 15, at Sheppard Baptist Church, 14281 Cardinal Road, Dixon, MO 65459, with Rev. Tom Maples officiating.  Interment will be held in Pisgah Cemetery near Dixon.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sheppard Baptist Church.
