Obituary

Norman Doerhoff, age 85, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Oak Tree Villa in Jefferson City. He was born in St. Elizabeth on April 5, 1929, son of the late Stephen and Elizabeth (Bode) Doerhoff. On May 25, 1949, in Mary's Home, Norman married Edna Marie Berendzen, who preceded him in death on August 21, 1995.

Norman retired from the Missouri State Highway Department. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family at their hunting cabin "Doerhoff Woods Incorporated". He was a longtime fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Norman was a member of the Doerhoff Orchestra, St. Elizabeth Knights of Columbus and St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth.

He is survived by six sons, Rick Doerhoff of Lake Ozark, Randy Doerhoff and wife Patty of Jefferson City, Roger Doerhoff of Jefferson City , Jerry Doerhoff of Jefferson City, Kevin Doerhoff and wife Norma of St. Elizabeth, and Jeff Doerhoff of Fresno, California; three daughters, Sue Doerhoff and husband Richard Thoreson of Columbia, Kim Yocom and husband Larry of Grandview, and Ann Wilde and husband Paul of Belleville, Illinois; one daughter-in-law, Ruth Doerhoff; eighteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ray Doerhoff and wife Rosetta of St. Elizabeth.

In addition to his wife Edna, he was preceded in death by one son, Ron Doerhoff, one sister, Cyrilla Heckemeyer, and three brothers, Leonard Doerhoff, Emil Doerhoff, and Joseph Doerhoff.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Rev. Joby P. Thomas will officiate. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, September 24, at the St. Elizabeth Community Center.
