November 5, 1933 – June 13, 2022
Oneta Fae Vance, age 88, of Iberia, left this world on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Dent County, Missouri, on November 5, 1933, daughter of the late Ray H. and Myrtle (Springman) Russell. On March 3, 1951, Oneta was united in marriage to Paul E. Vance, who preceded her in death on December 30, 2009.
She worked at LB Manufacturing in Iberia for 20 years. She loved to raise vegetables in her garden, quilting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she always had cookies freshly baked for.
Oneta was a faithful Christian and member of Hickory Point Baptist Church in Iberia, where she continued to help with Vacation Bible school until her early 80's. She was a member of the Iberia Senior Center and helped Esther Herzog with a weekly Sunday School class at St. Elizabeth and Miller County for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Paulette (Arthur) Orsborn; two sons, Samuel (Jody) Vance and Randall (Gloria) Vance; five grandchildren, David Orsborn, Lisa Fox, Josh Vance, Hailey Stumpe, and Colleen Brown; five great-grandchildren, M.J. Fox, Nathan Fox, Zora Orsborn, Wesley Vance, and Tillie Ann Stumpe; one sister, Olieta Edwards; and numerous family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Don Russell.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with services immediately following at 11 a.m., on Friday, June 17, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Brandon Kissinger officiating. Interment will be held in Hickory Point Cemetery near Iberia.
