Obituary

Parker Harlan, age 84, of Iberia, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia. He was born in St. Charles on March 4, 1933, son of the late Eunice and Della Harlan. He was married to Carrie Pauline Harlan, who preceded him in death in 1986 and later married Lola Fae Helton on October 6, 1990. Lola preceded him in death on August 26, 2014.

Parker served in the United States Army during the Korean War from December 15, 1953 until his honorable discharge on December 1, 1955.

Parker had many careers throughout his life including working with the railroad, a repairman, he drove a dump truck and later in life he was a police officer. He was an avid fisher and was a member of Mt. Gilliad Church and Mason Ridge.

He is survived by one son, Rick Harlan and wife Tara of Lee's Summit, one stepson, Orland Mills and wife Jerri of Grain Valley; three grandchildren, Jessica Hamilton and husband Jimmy of Iberia and Courtney Klinefelter of Arkansas and Charlie Bond; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Donnie and Paul Harlan.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m., with services immediately following at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Elton Dake will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Union Cemetery near Iberia.
