Patsy Nadine Ray, age 82, of Iberia, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Dixon, on April 15, 1942, daughter of the late Marcey and Alma (Sharp) Thompson. On February 15, 1975, Nadine was united in marriage to Frank Ray, who preceded her in death on June 3, 2008.
Nadine was a loving family member, who cherished moments spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. She had a passion for games, and was an exceptional cook, known for her delicious meals that brought joy to all who tasted them. She worked in the dietary department at school and loved seeing the smiling faces of the students. Her love for animals was evident in the care and affection she showed towards them, always ensuring they were well-loved and looked after. Nadine had a kind and compassionate heart and was always willing to help others in need.
She is survived by four sons, Shannon Ponder, Tony Ponder, Tim Ponder, and Curt Ray; daughter, Lawanna Ogden; 23 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two siblings, Bonnie Thompson and Alene Briggs; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Frank; son, Shawn Ponder; grandson, Austin Ponder; siblings, Doug Thompson, Mike Thompson, and Ruth Speight; infant brother, Rusty Thompson; and daughter-in-law, Natasha Ponder.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, at Seaton Church in Dixon. Final inurnment will be held in Seaton Cemetery near Dixon.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
