Paul David Bowden, age 85, of Brumley, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Osage Beach Rehabilitation and Health Center. He was born in Damsel, on January 22, 1939, son of the late George and Mary (Burrous) Bowden. On June 30, 1957, Paul was united in marriage to Bonnie Sue Luttrell, who preceded him in death on February 14, 1995.
Paul was an active member of his community, serving as the mayor of Brumley for over 30 years and was a member of the Brumley Lions Club. He had a passion for fishing and enjoyed working on small engines, so much so that he was notoriously known in the area as the "lawn mower man". Paul was a jack of all trades, with a broad knowledge of various skills, including woodworking and small engine maintenance.
He is survived by three children, Peggy (George) Johnson, Marty (Kathy) Bowden, and Cassaundra (Scott) Longstreet; six grandchildren, Sarah Riley, Andy Johnson, Meygan Willing, Joseph Willing, Eric Willing, and Rhyce Bowden; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, was also preceded in death by five brothers, George Bowden, Carl Bowden, Russell Bowden, Jim Bowden, and Earl Bowden, and two sisters, Hazel Eidson and Betty Mae Bowden.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with services immediately following at 11 a.m., on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Elton Dake officiating. The interment will be held in Mt. Union Cemetery near Brumley.
