Paul Arnold Schulte, age 47, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012, at his home. He was born in Iberia on July 4, 1965, son of Harry Frank and Berniece (Rehagen) Schulte. On July 13, 2012, Paul married his girlfriend of sixteen years, Christy Louise Whittle, who survives at the home.

When Paul was fourteen he worked in turkey barns for Bob Rush. At the age of sixteen he worked after school cutting and selling wood. Paul was a 1983 graduate of St. Elizabeth High School. Paul worked in construction most of his life. Throughout his construction career he worked for Schaffer Brother's Construction, Bax Construction, Bax Farm Supply, J & K Farm Supply, Diamond Pet Foods, and Schulte Construction. Paul owned and operated Paul's Tavern in St. Anthony for eleven years and later was the Miller County Road and Bridge Supervisor for the last 10 years. Paul became ill in 2010 forcing him to retire in 2012.

Paul always loved to help family and friends and cherished the time he spent with his children and working in the garage with his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, welding, and wood working.

He is also survived by his mother, Berniece Schulte; five daughters, Felicia (Schulte) Williams and husband Daron of Jefferson City, Constance Schulte and friend Scott Sandbothe of Jefferson City, Hilary Schulte and friend Eric Falter of Freeburg, Amy (Schulte) Twyman of St. Thomas, and Destiny Rowden Schulte of the home; two stepsons, Jeremy James Whittle of Tuscumbia and Darin L. Wickham of Ulman; six grandchildren; four brothers, Richard Schulte and wife Starla of St. Anthony, Dennis Schulte and wife Marie of St. Anthony, George Schulte and wife Susan of Dixon, and Jerome Schulte and wife Patti of Camp Bagnell; six sisters, Elizabeth (Liz) Holtmeyer and husband Leonard of St. Elizabeth, Helen Otto and husband Pat of St. Elizabeth, Joyce Wieberg and husband Norbert of St. Anthony, Doris Kliethermes and husband Dennis of St. Anthony, Joan Dickneite and husband Alfred Jr. of St. Elizabeth, Carol Falter and husband Jim of Argyle; one sister-in-law, Rita Hagenhoff; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Frank Schulte, one brother, Gene Schulte, sister-in-law, Cathy Schulte, and one niece, Brittany Schulte.

Service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 5, 2012, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Kevin Blackburn and Bro. Ralph Byrd will officiate. Interment will be in Gott Cemetery near Ulman.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at the funeral home.
