Pauline Marie (Beck) Huhman, age 85, of St. Elizabeth, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 10, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Care Center, where she resided.
Pauline was born in St. Elizabeth on March 24, 1924, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Adrian) Beck. She graduated as valedictorian from Tuscumbia High School, and worked as a secretary for the State of Missouri until her marriage to Herman J. Huhman of Tuscumbia on June 12, 1948. Herman preceded her in death on July 26, 1997. Pauline was a member of the St. Ann's Sodality of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and was a youth project leader for the Junior Farmer's Association.
Pauline is survived by her nine children and their spouses, Dianne & Gene Heckemeyer of St. Elizabeth, Elaine & Gary Kempker of Mary's Home, Marietta & Richard Johnson of Lee's Summit, Jean & Tom Howard of Auxvasse, Joe & Lerilee Huhman of St. Elizabeth, Linda & Sam Volmert of Folk, Tom and Teresa Huhman of Farmington, Sam & Julie Huhman, and Pat Huhman of Hazelwood. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Perry Heckemeyer, Lynn Struemph, Kaye Finn, Paul Heckemeyer, Lisa Lucas, Kari France, Michael Kempker, Laurie Kempker, David Kempker, Joe Kempker, Brandy Norton, Beth Snyder, Allison Howard, Lauren Howard, Jessa McLain, Jacob Huhman, Max Huhman, Wes Huhman, Kevin Volmert, Ashley Volmert, Chase Volmert, Brandon Marler, Andrew Huhman, Matthew Huhman, Hannah Huhman, Kate Huhman, Mark Huhman, Maria Huhman, and Ben Huhman; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by four brothers and their wives, Leonard and Louise Beck, Ted Beck, Ray and Dee Beck, Norbert and Norma Beck, and four sister-in-laws, Eleanor Beck, Marie Huhman, Corine Flick, and Clara Rowan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Alfred Beck.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 12, 2009, from 4-8 P.M. at the St. Elizabeth Community Center with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, May 13, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Rev. Ignazio Medina will officiate. Interment will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.
