Obituary

Pauline Luetkemeyer, age 88, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, August 28, 2009, at Villa Marie Nursing Center. She was born in St. Elizabeth on March 13, 1921, daughter of the late Francis Xavier and Anna (Luebbert) Luetkemeyer.

Pauline graduated from Meta High School, and then attended Oklahoma Nursing School for one year before entering the Franciscian Sisters of St. Mary's. She then attended St. Louis University and received her RN degree and worked for 24 years for the Sisters of St. Mary's in several of their hospitals. She worked many hours a day and never quit until the work was done. She received many thank you letters from the patients she cared for. She was compensated $1500 for her years of service.

After leaving the convent she worked as the Director of Nursing Service at Community Memorial Hospital, Monmouth, II and later cared for her nieces, nephews, and her mother who lived to be 96 years of age.

Pauline enjoyed reading the scripture, newspapers, praying the rosary, and visiting with family members.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Lou Luebbert and Ruth Kolb; four sisters-in-law, Marie and Rita Luetkemeyer of St. Louis and Lois and Barbara Luetkemeyer of Jefferson City; three brothers-in-law, Harold Thessen of Columbia, Walt Luebbert and Louis Kolb of Jefferson City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Albert, Urban, Ralph, Herman, and Robert Luetkemeyer; and one sister, Helen Thessen.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Interment will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.
