Phyllis Dean Aldridge, age 64, of Iberia, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011, at her home. She was born in Iberia on July 20, 1947, daughter of the late Vincent and Phyllis (Woolery) Hatfield. On February 9, 1979, in Hill City, Kansas, Dean married Richard Aldridge and they lived in Eastern Colorado until moving back to Iberia 10 years ago. Her husband, Richard, survives at their home in Iberia.
Dean grew up outside of Iberia on their family farm and attended Madden School and later Iberia High School. She went on to college and fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse. Dean had a passion for sewing, photography, and genealogy. She kept meticulous records on her Hatfield and Woolery family genealogy. She was a devoted Christian who was generous in spirit toward others and loved Christ with all her heart.
She is also survived by five daughters, Pam Steele of Kansas City, Christy Mueller and husband Mark of Columbia, Paula McConnell and husband Garrett of Stratton, Colorado, Lori Dowds and husband Michael of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Suzi Steele and husband Tom of Iowa City, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter soon to be born; two sisters, Linda Sauter and husband Vic of Eldon and Glenda Hatfield of Jefferson City; and one sister-in-law, Jeanie Hatfield of Versailles.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Ernie Hatfield.
Service will be held at 10 a.m., on Friday, September 2, 2011, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Her son-in-law, Pastor Tom Steele will officiate. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Iberia.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, at the funeral home.
