Obituary

Ralph E. Hendley, age 89, of Iberia, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia.  He was born in Tuscumbia on March 29, 1934, son of the late James and Clara Eleanor (Fancher) Hendley.  On March 29, 1953, at Hickory Point Baptist Church, Ralph was united in marriage to Ruby Vaughan, who survives at their home.

Ralph owned and operated Hendley and Sons Trucking and later Hendley Farm Supply in Iberia since 1960.  He started his career by hauling pine sawdust from south Missouri to Iberia.  As time went on and his customer size grew, Ralph started selling more than just lumber products and expanded to selling miscellaneous farm equipment and products.  Hendley Farm Supply is still owned and operated by his family.

In his spare time, Ralph enjoyed fishing, working on jigsaw puzzles, sodoku, and playing board games, especially double twelve dominoes.

Ralph was an active and faithful member of Iberia Church of the Nazarene since 1947, serving as trustee on the church board and teaching youth and senior adult Sunday school classes.  He was the oldest living member of the church.

In addition to his loving wife, Ruby Hendley, he is also survived by three daughters, Shirley (Mark) Marvin, Carolyn Hendley, and Lisa Nonneman; one son, Daniel (Sheila) Hendley; daughter-in-law, Carol Hendley; 10 grandchildren, Michael (Candice) Hendley, Cary (Amanda) Marvin, Audra (David) Spiven, Jeff (Morgan Duncan) Hendley, Matt (Suzie) Hendley, Jake (Tiffany) Hendley, Jesse (Emily) Hendley, Dylan Nonneman, Ryan Nonneman, and Aaron Nonneman; 12 great-grandchildren, Brentyn Hendley, Calen Hendley, Hallie Hendley, Lily Hendley, Avery Marvin, Gabe Marvin, Lane Hendley, Levi Hendley, Remi Hendley, Addie Hendley, Hannah Hendley, and Bo Hendley; sister, Catherine (Cliff) Hull; brother-in-law, Earl Vaughan; sister-in-law, Shirley Vaughan; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, David Hendley; two infant brothers, and great-granddaughter, Taliya Helton.

Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, at Iberia Church of the Nazarene with Pastors Bob Hamm, Henry Shelly, and Robby Cain officiating.  Interment will be held in Hickory Point Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
