Raymond C. Shackelford, age 91, of Eldon formerly of Iberia, passed away Friday, July 31, 2009, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. He was born in Iberia on July 9, 1918, son of the late Roscoe and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Sloan) Shackelford. On September 25, 1940, he married Altha Mae Shelton, who preceded him in death on June 27, 1973. On March 26, 1992, in Iberia, Raymond married Barbara A. Edwards Blanton, who survives at the home.

Raymond worked in Civil Service at Fort Leonard Wood for over 30 years until his retirement. He enjoyed Blue Grass Gospel music and singing at the local churches and nursing homes. Raymond was a member of the Ninth Street Christian Church in Eldon.

He is also survived by one son, Dorsey Shackelford and wife Sharon of Jefferson City; one daughter, Kathy Jeffries and husband Jim of Kansas City; one daughter-in-law, Glenda Shackelford of Brumley; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lena Shelton and husband Paul of Iberia.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Dennis Shackelford and three brothers, Clarence Shackelford, Withrow Shackelford, and Roy Shackelford.

Visitation will be from 12:30-2:00 p.m. with services immediately following at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2009, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Chris Reynolds and Bro. Lee Todd will officiate. Interment will be in Iberia Cemetery.
