Reba Faye Allen, age 81, of Iberia, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. She was born in Kellyville, Oklahoma on May 24, 1928, daughter of the late Alvia and Pearl (Plemmons) Shelton. On December 4, 1946, in Waynesville, Reba married Melvin Henry Allen, who preceded her in death on December 5, 1994.
She worked for many years at Miller County Care Center and Iberia Friendship Hall. She was known for her famous hot rolls, wonderful food, and beautiful flowers. Reba was baptized at Hawkeye Baptist Church and attended New Hope Gospel Church in Iberia.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Birdsong and husband Dennis Hermann of Siloam Springs, Arkansas and Pam Ash and husband David of Iberia; three grandchildren, Cory Fancher of Iberia, Brody Ash and fiancée Kendra Shackelford of Tuscumbia, and Mackenzie Ash of Iberia; one great-grandson, Jansen Fancher of Iberia; one sister, Veta Humphrey of Iberia; one brother, Cecil Shelton of Iberia; and her best friend and fiancé, Dilbert Machon of Iberia.
She was also preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 12 – 2 p.m. with services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Danny Hill will officiate. Interment will be in Iberia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Reba Allen Memorial Fund.
