Obituary

Richard Russell Wright, age 82, of Iberia formerly of Waynesville, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at Life Care Center of Waynesville. He was born in Bloomington, Indiana, on February 21, 1932, son of the late Russell and Daisy (Walls) Wright.


Richard proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He loved his family and was especially proud of his seven grandsons and his six great-grandchildren. Richard attended Iberia First Baptist Church.


He is survived by four children, Karl Wright and wife Susan of Darrington,
Washington, Ruth Long and husband Rick of Springsboro, Ohio, Richard Wright and wife Beth of Iberia, and James Wright and wife Esther of Henley; seven grandsons, Rick Long Jr., Ryan Long, Robert Long, Erick Wright, Jacob Wright, Jeremy DuBois, and Jim Wright; six great-grandchildren, three sisters, Betty Britton, Joan Harden, Jeanette Ford; and three brothers, Wayne Wright, Tom Wright, and Jerry Wright.


He was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Wright.


Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 12 p.m., on Friday, February 20, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Pastor Lindell Shelden will officiate. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 20 at Fort Leonard Wood Veterans Cemetery.
