Robert M. Demaree, age 85, of Iberia, passed away Monday, September 26, 2011, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. He was born in Sioux City, Iowa, on October 8, 1925, son of the late Earl and Sylvia Demaree. On November 7, 1952, in Sioux City, Iowa, Robert married Maxine Mae Nafziger, who survives at the home.
Robert farmed in Cherokee County, Iowa until 1981 and later became a truck driver. He worked as a Correction Officer in Jefferson City until he retired. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Iberia.
He is also survived by three children, Tom Demaree and wife Ann of Portland, Oregon, John Demaree and wife Sue of Laramie, Wyoming, and Ann Redmon and husband Dan of Polo, Missouri; three grandchildren, Ben Demaree, Adrienne Demaree, and Kellen Waldo; one nephew; and one niece.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 6 p.m., on Thursday, September 29, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Ron Orr will officiate.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the future Alzheimer's Unit at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia.
