Robert Lee Griggs (Bob), age 71, of Eldon, MO, passed away on Tuesday October 3, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Braymer on September 5, 1946, son of Russell Lee and Marjorie Griggs. On November 29, 1965 in Olathe, Kansas, Bob married Dorothy Jean Karr, who survives at their home.
Robert is survived by his spouse of 52 years Dorothy Jean Griggs (Karr); He is also survived by his four children, Melissa Beaudoin of Olathe, KS., Phil Griggs of Olathe, KS., Jennifer Bown of Excelsior Springs, MO., and Janette Carl of Louisburg, KS, and ten grandchildren. Robert is also survived by his mother Marjorie Griggs, two sisters, Mary and Kathy and one brother, Frank (Gene) Griggs.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Griggs and his brother, Russell "Rusty" Charles Griggs.
Robert had a diverse career that spanned over 50 years. His career included Maintenance Supervisor for Johnson County in Olathe, KS.; Owner and operator of an HVAC and Hardware Store in Gallatin, Missouri; Four tours in Iraq with the US Army Apache team following the Gulf War; Robert also spent 20 years working as the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor for Saudi Arabian Airlines in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where he and Dorothy raised their family.
Robert was a loving father who was dedicated to his family and friends. Bob was a generous and caring soul that would put others before himself. He loved his projects and hobbies that included all things mechanical and electrical. Robert was proud American who had a passion for his country and politics. He was a member of the Eldon United Methodist Church, Lions Club and was a Third Degree Master Mason with the U.S. Hessen 844 Lodge in Frankfurt, Germany.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. with services immediately following at 2 p.m., on Saturday, October 7, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Interment will be in Curry Cemetery near Iberia.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association, Curry Cemetery, or the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research.
