Robert Lavern Wilson, age 72, of Meta, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Maries Manor Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Vienna. He was born in Maries County, on April 27, 1938, son of the late Howard and Oma Hester (Vaughan) Wilson. On June 1, 1958, in Hancock, Missouri, Robert married Jo Ann McMillian, who survives at the home.
He was a lifetime farmer and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Robert was a member of Campground Christian Church in Meta.
He is also survived by one son, Bobby Wilson and wife Peggy of Meta; one daughter, Joyce Asberry and husband Bob of Meta; three grandchildren, B.J. Asberry, Crystal Wieberg and husband Tim and Jennifer Asberry all of Meta; and one brother, Lewis Wilson and wife Sharon of Meta.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta. Rev. Manuel Seaton will officiate. Interment will be in Red Cemetery near Meta.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 8, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary's Hospice or to Campground Christian Church.
