Roger Anthony Borgmeyer, age 86, of Meta, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, at his home in the arms of his loving wife. He was born in St. Elizabeth at the family farm on the banks of Big Tavern Creek on May 28, 1937, son of the late Anton and Marie (Werner) Borgmeyer. On May 19th in 1962, at St. Peter Church in Jefferson City, Roger was united in marriage to Emilie Jean Slicker, who survives at the home.
Roger attended Meta grade school and part of high school; he was a 1955 graduate of Fatima High School. After high school he attended Jefferson City Junior College earning his general education certificate, in 1959 he graduated from Lincoln University with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture. He taught General Science, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at Fatima High School for three years. After his teaching career he began working for MoDOT as a material inspector in the Kirkwood office, while working with MoDOT he participated in the construction of The Interstate Highway System. Roger and Emilie made their home in Kirkwood, later moving to High Ridge where they raised their three children. Roger retired from MoDOT in July of 1993 after 31 years of service, shortly after they moved to Meta where they made their farm their home.
In addition to his loving wife of 61 years, Emilie Borgmeyer, he is also survived by three children, Steven (Mary) Borgmeyer of Cedar Hill, Kevin (Lee Ann) Borgmeyer of High Ridge, Jeannine (Roger) Jones of Millersville; four grandchildren, Teresa (Bryan) Krejcarek of Wauwatosa, WI, Katelyn (Brandon) Bock of Millersville, Jacob (Nicole) Jones of Marble Hill, John Jones (Allison Aufdenberg) of Jackson; eight great-grandchildren Cooper and Leocadia Krejcarek, Samuel Jones, Ellie, Gus and Cora Bock, Cole and Iyla Jones; Three Brothers, Kenneth (Ann) Borgmeyer of Florissant, Eugene Borgmeyer of O'Fallon, Virgil (Cathy) Borgmeyer of Meta; One Sister Gloria (Joe) Allen of Springfield; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn Haile of Osage Beach, Laura (Felix) Wieberg of Holts Summit, Lucinda Borgmeyer of Jefferson City; two brothers-in-law, Dale (Joyce) Slicker of Jefferson City, and Kenneth (Debbie) Slicker of McDonough, GA, and numerous family and friends.
He was preceded in death by, his parents Anton and Marie Borgmeyer, father and mother-in-law Arthur and Teresa Slicker, by brother James Borgmeyer, one sister-in-law, Frances Borgmeyer, and one brother-in-law, Kenneth Haile.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 AM, with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11 AM, on Wednesday, June 28, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta with Fr. Leonard Mukiibi officiating. Interment will be held in St. Cecilia Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital or St. Cecilia Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.
